Final Spring Tournament Results 2014

Chip-in birdie @ WAC.

MAUI01Dorsey finished up her freshman spring golf season at Seattle University much like she finished her fall season…on a high note.  This time, when it counted most, at the Western Athletic Conference Championship in Mesa, Arizona at the Longbow Golf Club on April 25 – 27, 2014.

After Day 1, Dorsey was tied for 6th with an opening round 76 (birdieing the final two holes), three strokes off the lead on a challenging desert course.  Day 2 was a day of character building, gusting winds up to 35 mph, and the nerves that come with going out with the leaders for the first time in her college career.  Only nine players shot under 80 on Day 2, when 10-over was a good score.  Dorsey shot an 89 to drop into a tie for 19th.  On the final day, Dorsey shot a 71 (par 72), her best collegiate score, finishing in a tie for 8th.  Only one other player shot under par for the entire tournament (135 rounds), and that was her teammate Amanda Beyke, who shot the same score on the final day, helping their team secure third place.

Highlights of Dorsey’s final round included an eagle on Hole 9 (making the turn at -2), and a chip-in birdie on Hole 11 to go -3.  Click here for more from the Seattle University website.  Click here for Dorsey’s scorecards from the WAC Championship.

Dorsey finished strong in her last three tournaments of the season, which started on March 24-26, 2014 at the Anuenue Spring Break Classic in Maui on the Bay Course at the Kapalua Resort.  Against top-ranked teams like Pepperdine, Washington, UC Davis, San Jose State, Mississippi, Colorado, Oregon State, and others, Dorsey finished tied for 37th out of 84 players with a score of 81-75-75-231.  Of the 19 freshman in the field, Dorsey tied for 7th.  Click here for Dorsey’s scorecards from Kapalua.
