It was a golf Christmas.
Instead of hanging around Montana and enjoying a white Christmas, Dorsey uprooted her family and travelled to St. Simons Island, GA and Tempe, AZ for a holiday stocking filled with golf.
At St. Simons Island, it was more instuction from the amazing Gale Peterson and fitness guru Randy Myers at the Sea Island Golf Performance Center. Dorsey shocked the staff by wearning shorts one day with temps in the 30s, proving you have to be hardy to live and play in Seattle in the winter.
From there it was off to Arizona, where Santa brought a round at the TPC Scottsdale Stadium course. The highlight of Dorsey’s 1-over round at TPC was a birdie on the famed 16th hole, considered the rowdiest hole in golf during the PGA’s Waste Management Phoenix Open. The hole is ringed with a stadium of temporary seats that holds up to 20,000 crazy, rowdy, and mostly drunk fans…but not on that day.
From there, it was tournament time at the Arizona State Karsten Golf Course for the long-running Joanne Winter Arizona Silver Belle Championship for amateur women golfers. Her last tournment was in October, but it didn’t take long to shed the competitive rust. Dorsey finished tied for 35th (out of 89) with a 77-74-75-226 (10 over). In the 19-23 age category, she finished tied for 8th (out of 20).
Enjoy a few pictures from the road.
