That’s a wrap!
Four years of college golf came to an end for Dorsey at the 2017 Western Athletic Conference with a tie for 13th, and a great final round of 71 (par 70), the second best round of the tournament by one stroke at the very tough Indian Hills Country Club in Mission Hills, KS. Dorsey was hoping for a better finish, but she walked away proud, knowing that she gave her very best for four years. The team finished tied for third.
This season was one of many highs, and a few lows (that’s just golf). Here are some of her best finishes.
…In the fall at the Washington State Cougar Classic at Palouse Ridge Golf Club, Dorsey shot a 75-74-73-222 (+6) to tie for 15th (out of 54).
…At the Rose City Collegiate at Langdon Farms Golf Course outside Portland, OR, Dorsey tied for 35th (out of 87) with a score of 76-77-75-228 (+12).
…In October at the Manito Country Club in Spokane, WA at the Gonzaga Bulldogs Match Play Championship, Dorsey went 3-0 in match play.
…In the second tournament of the spring, Dorsey tied for 6th (out of 80) with a 71-75-74-220 (+4) at the Red Rocks Invitational on the Oak Creek Country Club in Sedona, AZ, which also included a win for the team!

…At the Grand Canyon Women’s Spring Invite at the GCU Golf Course in Phoenix, the team took second and Dorsey finished tied for 15th (out of 55) with a 78-74-75-227 (+11).
…In Maui, at the Anuenue Spring Break Classic Dorsey shot a 77-80-75-232 (+16) at the scenic and incredibly windy Kapalua Bay Course to tie for 44th (out of 89) against the strongest field of the year, which included Stanford, UCLA, and Arizona State (all ranked in the top 10 nationally).
…And at the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic at the Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Course in Maricopa, AZ Dorsey placed in a tie for 29th (out of 100) with a score of 75-74-77-226 (+10).
Dorsey and her teammates will end up being some of the best golfers to ever play at Seattle University (stats to come later). The one category that Dorsey will own when the stats come out is total number of eagles over the course of four years. No surprise there for the long-hitter.
Other high points this year include being named team captain for the 2016-2017
season, becoming an Academic All-American, and being featured in a great profile done by the Athletics Department, called “Be Remembered” which profiled one graduating athlete from each sport. Dorsey talks about her journey from high school late-bloomer to D1 golfer. You can read it by clicking here.
After graduation in June, Dorsey plans to continue playing golf. She is very excited to see what kind of golfer she can become when that is her main focus. This summer will be filled with amateur and professional tournaments, culminating with LPGA Q School in late August. Stay tuned.
