Over Thanksgiving, I played in an IMG Jr. three-day tournament in Orlando placing 11th out of 24 golfers with a score of 85-79-79-243 at 5817 yards. The course was at the Grand Cypress Resort…a Jack Nicklaus designed replica of the Old Course at St. Andrews, called the “New Course”.
The links-style course suited my game well. Off the tee, my length took most of the fairway bunkers out of play, while my accuracy into the greens kept me out of sand trouble most of the time…the course boasts 150 bunkers, most of which are pot bunkers that guard small greens with false fronts. It was a great Thanksgiving! Enjoy some of the pictures my dad took, when he wasn’t cheering me on.
